Arctic fox

Vulpes lagopus fuliginosus.

Here we have one of the toughest animals I know. The arctic fox can stand freezing temperature of as low as -58°F (-50°C). Their fur acts as a camouflage year round. During the cold of the winter it is beautiful white, hiding them in the snow. Then, in the summer, the fur changes to brown or gray to hide him in the rough treeless plains of Iceland’s landscape. The fox makes himself at home underground and lives off what the land has to offer at the time be it birds, eggs, even fish.

The fox is one of my favorites animal. He is a beautiful small mammal; the image of hard work, strength and resourcefulness. The fox is still considered big trobuler in nature and is killed anywhere and anytime outside the nature reserve on Hornstrandir.
